Principal Flute with the Zagreb Philharmonic

Flutist with the Cantus Ensemble


Ana Batinica (Sibenik, Croatia). graduated with honors in 2012. in the class of Prof. Renata Penezić at the Music Academy in Zagreb.

As the winner of Erasmus scholarship, she studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia in the class of Prof. Matej Zupan.

In 2014. graduated with honors on the "Conservatoire de la Musique et de la Danse" in Strasbourg, France in the class of Prof. Mario Caroli, doing a two year specialist study.

Actively studied and performed in master classes at home and abroad with eminent professors such as
Emmanuel Pahud, András Adorján, Andrea Lieberknecht, Davide Formisano, Patrick Gallois, Carl Jans,
János Bálint, Gudrun Hinze, Andrea Olive, Hansgeorg Schmeiser, Nathalie Rozat, Jan Ostrý...

As an excellent student she received a special Chancellor's Award in 2008. and 2010.

She won first prizes at the 4th Concorso Internazionale di esecuzioni Musicale 'Giovani Musicisti' in
Treviso and 50th State competition for students, second prize (no first prize) at the Concours National de Flute in Golbey 2013 and scholarship „Premio Ghigo“ in Gubbio Summer Festival 2012.

As a winner of Myrna Brown International Scholarship she held a recital at the NFA Convention in
Washington D.C. in 2015.

In 2016 won the first prize at Papandopulo Competition for Young musicians in Croatia.

From 2016 she holds the principal flute position in Zagreb Philharmonic and has performed under many
respectable conductors (Dmitri Kitayenko, Kazushi Ono, Valery Gergiev, Neville Marriner, Andrew
Davis, Michael Schonwandt).

As a soloist she appeared with the Zagreb Philharmonic, Zagreb Philharmonic Chamber Studio, Zagreb
Youth Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Croatian armed forces, Zagreb Soloists and Symphony
orchestra of Croatian National Television.

Ana is a member of the Cantus Ensemble for contemporary music from 2017., and has shared the stage
with world-known artists such as Roberto Fabbriciani, Christiane Boesiger, Irvine Arditti, Lorelei

She is a former member of Zagreb Flute Ensemble from 2012 with whom she recorded CD "Carrousel"
containing contemporary croatian music, and has performed at several European and Asian Flute
Festivals (Seville 2015., Paris 2016., Singapore 2018.)
